After a difficult week off the pitch, the NFL returned to play - and the focus shifted to the big-name players were injured in the entire league.
Robert Griffin III, Jamaal Charles, DeSean Jackson, AJ Green and Knowshon Moreno all left their games on a busy Sunday for the coach and the medical staff.
Griffin dislocated his left ankle in the first quarter of Washington 41-10 victory over Jacksonville, putting his season in jeopardy. Redskins quarterback scheduled for X-rays and MRI to determine more about the injury. He and coach Jay Gruden did not offer to return to the table, but the injuries are usually outside of NFL players for at least two months.
"Moments like this," Griffin said, "you just have to keep the faith."
If there are cracks, Griffin will require surgery and will almost certainly be done this year. He was injured when he landed awkwardly on the ankle as he finished throwing and then fell out of bounds. Pass was arrested by Jackson for 11-yard gain.
"It was a pain," said Griffin. "Anytime you see your ankles and it will be up at the strange, you do not want to wake up."
Jackson also left the game shortly after he sprained the AC joint in his left shoulder in the first quarter. He hopes to play next week against Philadelphia, his former club.
Redskins players were injured, including running back Roy Helu (quadriceps strain), keep Shawn Lauvao (sprained right knee) and defensive Darrel Young (sprained back).
Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis was carted off after leaving with a sprained left ankle high. Rookie receiver Allen Hurns injured his left ankle and is expected X-ray.
In Denver, Charles left with a left ankle injury after taken down in the first quarter against the Broncos, and did not return. Charles stopped the run up the middle with Broncos safety TJ Ward and then tied to the bench.
General safety Eric Berry also sprained ankle.
Green severely injured a foot in the opening series of the Cincinnati Bengals and sitting throughout the game, 24-10 victory over Atlanta.
Green missed practice time last week with a leg injury in his right foot. He started against the Falcons, but came to the sideline after a few dramas have foot examined. He walked out without assistance, limping slightly.
Bengals lose four players: Pro Bowl linebacker Vontaze Burfict (pinched nerve in neck), defensive tackle Brandon Thompson (left knee), tight end Alex Smith (left biceps) and right guard Kevin Zeitler (right calf).
In Orchard Park, New York, Moreno did not return after injuring his left elbow 11 minutes to Miami 29-10 loss to the Bills. He was injured in the first take profit of 4 meters, when he was initially hit on the right by Nickell Robey, and Nigel Bradham then hit him from the left, hitting him directly in the arm.
Five main defender of the Bears injured after their 28-20 victory at 49ers: cornerbacks Sherrick McManis (quadriceps) and Charles Tillman (triceps), defensive end Trevor Scott (foot), safety Chris Conte (shoulder) and defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff (concussion ).
